We began by creating small paper collages using found type and imagery. These collages were scanned and became the jumping-off point for our poster designs.

Design the Night

Established in 1877 as part of a vibrant creative community, the RISD Museum stewards works of art representing diverse cultures from ancient times to the present. Design the Night is an ongoing series of Summer Evening Exhibitions, hosted in the museum space. Design the Night: Text was an exhibition that ‘Explored the imaginative life of letters.’

I designed these posters during my Summer studies at RISD in a workshop with Tom Wedell of Skolos Wedell.

During this course I was very interested in exploring the use of photography, as this is the medium that Tom and Nancy use in their work, building detailed sets in their studio and layering the resulting imagery with type.

I experimented with building layered imagery with cut letterforms and dramatic lighting.
