Plastikman aka Ritchie Hawtin is a minimal techno artist from Canada. Arkives is a box set of vinyl including remastered versions of all six previously released albums and a trove of rarities, unreleased sessions and new material. This poster was designed as an homage to his unique style of minimal music.
The elements for this poster were created using analog techniques. The typography, printed onto acetate sheets were photographed while being manipulated under studio lighting. The resulting effect is three-dimensional type that lifts off the page and echoes the undulations of the music.
These ethereal shapes were created using an open scanner with objects placed on top. The images were then edited in Photoshop. There are large areas of white space punctuated with amorphous shapes, evoke the layered and undulating harmonies that characterise this style of minimal techno.
